TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama baseball will hold its annual "Fan Day" this Saturday, Feb. 7, inside Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, with various events planned all leading up to the team's 2:30 p.m. scrimmage. The Met will be open to all fans and is free of admission.
The morning will kick off with a youth clinic from 10-11 a.m. in which children can learn fundamentals from the Alabama coaching staff and players. The session is open to all children 12 and under in attendance and will feature a rotation of four stations with each stop focused specifically on hitting, fielding, pitching or baserunning.
Following the youth clinic, fans are welcome to join the coaching staff and the Diamond Dolls on the field for the "Hoover Met Experience". The coaches and staff will start at home plate and take fans on a tour through all parts of the park, including the locker room, party deck and banquet room areas to allow fans a closer look at all the amenities provided by Hoover to the Alabama baseball team this season.
The stadium tour will conclude at the doors to the banquet room where the Grandslammers will be hosting their annual barbeque from 12:00-1 p.m. Fans wishing to get some great food and mingle with fellow Alabama supporters can be a part of the barbeque at a cost of $10 for adult tickets and $5 for children 12 and under.
After fans get their food, they are encouraged to join the players on the third base seating concourse for an autograph session that will run from 12:30-1 p.m. The players will then leave the autograph area to make their way to the field for pre-scrimmage warmups and introductions. Players and coaches will introduce themselves to the fans and then immediately head to the locker room to get prepared for the day's scrimmage.
While the players are prepping for game action, fans are welcome to take part in the team's "select-a-seat" initiative. Seats that are still available for supporters to purchase as part of a season ticket package will be labeled, and those seats will be available for purchase on Saturday. Fans can also purchase mini-plan, individual seats and group packages while in attendance. Representatives from the Alabama ticket office will be set up inside the concourse just beyond the main entrance to "The Met" and can take orders while fans wait for the scrimmage to begin.
The fan day experience will wrap up at 2:30 when the team will begin its scrimmage, a full game for all inside the park to enjoy. As part of a `thank you' to those in attendance, the Alabama Athletics ticketing office will be giving away one package of four tickets to five lucky fans for each SEC weekend series in Hoover. The ticket giveaway will be announced the end of the second inning of action, while other in-game entertainment will be provided throughout the scrimmage's entirety. Following Saturday's action, baseball will spend Sunday scrimmaging in Hoover as a final tune-up for regular season play.
Alabama will begin the 2015 season on Friday, Feb. 13, as the team hosts the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Crimson Tide and Hawks will face off for a three-day, weekend series with first pitch of the season opener scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CT. The 2015 Alabama baseball season at the Hoover Met is sponsored by Hibbett Sports.
