Women's Tennis Ranked Ninth by Intercollegiate Tennis Association

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association yesterday announced updated team, singles and doubles rankings for the 2015 regular season. Alabama maintained its top ten position in the Division I Team Rankings, and has three of six singles players - and its No. 1 doubles team - nationally ranked.
After clinching its second consecutive Blue Gray championship over the weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide maintained a top ten spot in the rankings, dropping just one slot from eighth to ninth. The University of Southern California is new to the Top 10 this week, climbing sevens spots from 11th to fourth after upsetting former No. 5 Cal. The North Carolina Tar Heels remain No.1, followed by a pair of SEC schools - No. 2 Georgia and No. 3 Florida. The University of Virginia rounds out the Top 5 this week, climbing two spots from No. 7.
Alabama also came away from the Blue Gray Classic with three nationally ranked singles players, all slotted at 64 or higher. Sophomore Erin Routliffe is ranked No. 35, while Blue Gray MVP recipient, Maya Jansen, checks in at No. 56. Sophomore Danielle Spielmann rounds out the Crimson Tide singles players in the national rankings at No. 64.
After claiming another three doubles victories over the weekend, defending NCAA champions Erin Routliffe and Maya Jansen are currently slotted at No. 9 in the National Doubles Rankings. Routliffe and Jansen are a perfect 9-0 in doubles play thus far in the 2015 regular season.
The 2015 ITA Division I National Rankings continue next Tuesday, March 3, with a new set of men's and women's team rankings. The next ITA Division I National Singles and Doubles Rankings for the men and women will next be released on Tuesday, March 10.
