TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team worked for roughly two hours on Friday afternoon in full pads inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
It was the third of seven bowl practices before the holiday break and 11 prior to the College Football Playoff Semifinal against Michigan State. The matchup of conference champions will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Thursday Dec 31. Kickoff for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl is slated for 7:10 p.m. CT on ESPN with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit in the booth, while Heather Cox works the sidelines.
The Spartans worked to a 12-1 record that wrapped up with a victory over then-No. 4 Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game to advance MSU to the College Football Playoff Semifinal. Michigan State began the season 8-0 before falling at Nebraska, 39-38. The Spartans bounced back with three wins to close out the regular season, highlighted by a last-second 17-14 win over Ohio State.
Alabama and Michigan State will meet for just the second time, with the initial game coming in the 2011 Capital One Bowl, as the Crimson Tide came away with a convincing 49-7 victory over the Spartans. In that game, the Crimson Tide amassed 546 yards of total offense to post the second-best yardage output in UA history.
