Alabama rowing signed seven student-athletes during the early signing period who will join the team for the 2016-17 season. Over the coming days, we will be posting individual profiles on rolltide.com for the each member of the class. Our final profile is on Sydney Boles from Maryville, Tenn.
Sydney has gained extensive coxing experience during her time at the East Tennessee Rowing Organization. Since eighth grade, she has coxed the openweight women, heavyweight men and the lightweight men. In 2015, she attended the competitive Southeast Juniors camp, finishing as the third-ranked coxswain and competing at Club Nationals in the Junior Women's 8+.
Previously, Sydney also played soccer for nine years. In her free time, she volunteers with multiple organizations including Community Food Connection, Habitat for Humanity, Blount County Youth Court and the local animal shelter. She is a vice president with the National Honor Society and is also in the Spanish Honor Society. She plans on majoring in international studies at Alabama with the goal of joining the Peace Corps after graduating and eventually working for the state department.
