Alabama rowing signed seven student-athletes during the early signing period who will join the team for the 2016-17 season. Over the coming days, we will be posting individual profiles on rolltide.com for the each member of the class. Our sixth profile is on Sarah Giuliani from Brightwaters, N.Y.
As a team captain for both her swim team and varsity crew team at Bay Shore High School in Brightwaters, N.Y., Sarah Giuliani has plenty of leadership experience. With the Junior Varsity 4+, she won the Long Island Championships, finished third at the New York State Scholastic Championships and placed fifth at the Stotebury Cup Regatta and the SRAA National Championships.
"Sarah has a record of leadership and excellence during her high school athletic career," head coach Larry Davis said. "This is evidenced by being elected captain by her peers in two sports and being selected to attend the US National Team Development Camp."
She spent the summers of 2013 and 2015 training with the Sagamore Rowing Association, making the Grand Finals both years at the Club Nationals and Canadian Henley. In 2014, she was selected to attend the U.S. Junior National Team's development camp in New London, Conn.
"Having Sarah commit to Alabama this year comes at just the right time for us, as we are poised to take a big leap forward as a program," Davis said. "We have high expectations for Sarah and her impact on our team's development, as both an athlete and leader."
