TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - For the second time this season, both senior Sierra Wilson and sophomore Kat Hutson earned weekly accolades from the Southeastern Conference. Wilson was named the SEC Co-Setter of the Week and Hutson was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Wilson finished with 48 assists in each of the weekend's two matches, totaling 96. The 48 against Georgia on Friday, along with her 10 digs, is her highest total in a three-set match this season and it was her sixth double-double this season. After this weekend, her school-record career total improved to 5,677 assists, making her the first player in program history to surpass 5,600.
Hutson totaled 30 kills over the weekend, evenly splitting 15 kills against both Georgia and South Carolina. The 15 against the Bulldogs as well as her 18.5 points scored are her highest totals in a three-set match this season and her three aces in the win is also a season high. She followed that with another stellar performance on Sunday against the Gamecocks, finishing with 15 kills and just one error on 27 swings, posting a season-high .519 hitting percentage. She matched her season-high three aces from Friday in Sunday's win and added a season-high eight digs as well.
Wilson shares this week's SEC Setter of the Week award with Texas A&M's Stephanie Aiple. The Aggies' Jazzmin Babers was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week and Missouri's Alyssa Munlyn was named the SEC Freshman of the Week.
Next up, Alabama concludes its season at home, facing Ole Miss (21-9, 7-8 SEC) on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network and LSU (9-17, 5-10 SEC) on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. CT.
