Alabama Softball Slugs Seven Homers in Fall Opener

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Alabama softball split two games against Middle Tennessee State to open the fall season, coming back from a game one loss to shut out the Blue Raiders 14-0 in game two.
Alabama scored four runs in the opening game of the doubleheader, led by a 2-3 performance with two RBI from freshman Merris Schroder. The Crimson Tide bats came alive in game two, as the team slugged seven home runs en route to a 14-0 shutout in five innings. Leona Lafaele slugged two long balls along with homers by Schroder, Chandler Dare, Marisa Runyon, Caroline Hardy and Reagan Dykes. Alexis Osorio threw 3.0 perfect innings in the start while Madi Moore backed her up with 2.0 scoreless innings and just one hit allowed.
Alabama will resume fall play on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Tuscaloosa at Rhoads Stadium facing Western Kentucky at 11 a.m. CT and Mobile at 3 p.m.
