TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama football team went through a finall practice on Thursday afternoon, working a 90-minute session in shells inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The practice focused on special teams and put the final touches on a gameplan for Tennessee.
The annual "Third Saturday in October" matchup with the Vols will air live this Saturday on CBS at 2:30 p.m. CT. The tandem of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will have the call from the booth with Allie LaForce helping from the sidelines.
The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series with Tennessee, 51-38-7 (52-37-8 actual), and has won eight straight games against the Vols. Saturday will mark the 98th meeting between the two teams in the "Third Saturday in October" rivalry that dates back to 1901. Alabama has won the last five matchups against Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium, including a 45-10 victory in 2013, the last time the two teams squared off in Tuscaloosa. The most recent meeting occurred last season in Knoxville, when the Crimson Tide came away with a 34-20 victory.
Following Saturday's home game with the Vols, Alabama will head into its first bye week of the 2015 season before a matchup with No. 5 LSU. The Crimson Tide and Tigers will meet for the 80th time in series history on Nov. 7 in Tuscaloosa. Alabama owns the all-time advantage, 49-25-5, and is currently riding a four-game winning streak that began with the Tide's 21-0 win over the Tigers in the 2012 BCS National Championship.
