TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Seven Alabama players were recognized by the coaching staff following Saturday's 27-14 win over Arkansas. Kenyan Drake and Calvin Ridley were the honorees on offense, while Reggie Ragland, A'Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed represented the defense. Cyrus Jones and JK Scott made the special teams list.
Ridley, a freshman, led the way for the Crimson Tide with career-highs of nine catches for 140 total yards. A large portion of those yards came on his 81-yard reception from Jake Coker, a career-long for the freshman. Drake, from Powder Spring, Ga., averaged 4.1 rushing yards on seven carries and had 37 receiving yards for a total of 66 yards, helping open up the Alabama offense with his versatility in both the ground and passing games.
Ragland once again led the team in tackles, finishing with eight. The senior was a force in all facets of the defense, accounting for one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one pass breakup, one sack and two quarterback hurries by night's end. It was the fifth time in six games Ragland has led the Crimson Tide in tackles and eighth across his four-year career.
Robinson, who earned player of the week honors for the second week in a row, was once again a disruptive force up the middle, accounting for five total tackles including one quarterback hurry to help limit the Razorbacks to just 1.8 yards per rush. Reed, who has been honored for five out of the six games this season, had four tackles and a tackle for a loss.
Jones earned his second honor in as many weeks after totaling 39 yards on three punt returns including a season-long return of 27 yards. The senior's good hands were once again on display, fielding all Razorback punts perfectly while also recovering an onside kick late in the fourth quarter to help Alabama secure the win. Scott averaged 50 yards on four punts, with one of those being a season-high of 58 yards.
