Women's Basketball Drops 77-63 Decision at Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. - The women's basketball team fell, 77-63, to Ole Miss on Sunday at Tad Smith Coliseum. With the loss, the Crimson Tide drops to 11-8 overall and 0-4 in Southeastern Conference play, while the win lifts the Rebels to 13-4 on the season and 3-1 against league opponents.
Ole Miss scored 30 of its 77 points from three point range, including 24 from junior Gracie Frizzell, who led all scorers. Sophomore Breanna Hayden and freshman Meoshonti Knight, who made her first start, combined for 31 points for Alabama as Hayden had a season-high 16 points and Knight 15.
The Rebels scored 12 unanswered points to start the game before freshman Hannah Cook knocked down a three pointer at the 14:46 mark to get the Tide on the board. Alabama strung together 11 straight points to cut the Ole Miss lead down to one with 7:30 to go in the half, but a 6-1 run with back-to-back three pointers for Ole Miss extended its lead back out to six moments later. The Rebels scored 14 of the final 15 points of the period to take a 31-17 advantage into the locker room.
Ole Miss pushed its lead out to 29 midway through the second half for its largest lead of the game. From there, Alabama connected on 10 of its next 11 baskets and later pulled within 13 but would come no closer as time ran out.
For the game, Alabama shot 44.9 percent (22-49), while Ole Miss was 43.1 percent (25-58) from the floor. The Rebels outrebounded the Tide 38-26.
Alabama remains on the road for its next contest, heading to Starkville, Miss., to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday, Jan. 18. The game will tip off at 3 p.m. CT and will air on Fox Sports South.
