How did you get into distance running?
"I started in about third grade. I kind of did everything in elementary school, but I just stuck with distance. It was my favorite."
What's the biggest difference you have noticed between your hometown in Canada and Alabama?
"The heat is a big difference, and it's a different culture. People have the Southern hospitality here."
What is something you had at home that you wish you had here?
"I would definitely say Tim Horton's. It's a coffee place like Dunkin' Donuts but the Canadian version, and I really like their tea."
Have you ever had an embarrassing moment during a race?
"There was this one time I was coming up the last stretch and I was dead. I felt and looked like I was running through quicksand. I really felt like I looked ridiculous."
What's your major?
"My major is Exercise Science. I'm not 100 percent sure what the future holds for me there, but hopefully it will have something to do with sports."
What's your best advice for young runners?
"Definitely take things as they come and don't stress over the little things. Keep the big perspective on running and what you'll do with it in the future."
