Men's Golf Slips to Second at Mason Rudolph Championship

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The top-ranked Alabama men's golf team shot 10-over par 294 Saturday to slip into second place after two rounds of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The Crimson Tide are two shots back of host Vanderbilt, who carded an even-par 284 Saturday to take the team lead at 5-over 573. The Tide are 7-over 575 with Kennesaw State (+12, 580) in third. Louisville is fourth at 14-over 582 while Georgia Southern rounds out the top five with a 15-over total of 583.
Sophomore Tom Lovelady made a hole-in-one on the 11th hole Saturday and led the Crimson Tide with a 1-under-par 70 in the second round, moving into a tie for 13th at 3-over 145. Lovelady was 2-over on his round before the ace and followed it with a birdie two holes later and six more pars to finish his round.
Senior Cory Whitsett is the top Alabama player on the scoreboard with a 2-over 144 after shooting 3-over 74 Saturday. Both Trey Mullinax and Robby Shelton made double bogey on the 18th to shoot 76 and 74 respectively and find themselves in a tie for 13th at 145. Bobby Wyatt, who played the final four holes 3-under, shot 76 and slipped into a tie for 26th.
Alabama will play with host Vanderbilt and Kennesaw State in Sunday's final round. The grouping begins play at 9:40 a.m. at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
