NEW ORLEANS - The top-seeded Alabama football team wrapped up preparations for its 15th Allstate Sugar Bowl appearance with a walkthrough and team photo Wednesday afternoon at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Head coach Nick Saban also met with the media for the final time leading up to the game during a 15-minute press conference at the New Orleans Convention Center Marriott on Wednesday morning.
Alabama will square off against the fourth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Thursday, Jan. 1, in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The matchup will air on ESPN, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT. Brad Nessler will provide the play-by-play with Todd Blackledge serving as the analyst and Holly Rowe reporting from the sidelines. The game can be heard on the radio through the Crimson Tide Sports Network, as well as ESPN Radio.
Alabama holds Allstate Sugar Bowl records with 15 overall appearances and eight victories, and is making its third appearance in the past four years. Alabama's last Allstate Sugar Bowl victory came when the bowl hosted the BCS Championship Game on Jan. 10, 2012, where the Tide knocked off the LSU Tigers, 21-0, to take home the national championship.
The winner of Thursday's game will earn the right to play for the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, Jan. 12, in Arlington, Texas.
