NEW ORLEANS - The No. 1-seeded Alabama football team worked out for two hours Tuesday afternoon at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, marking the team's 12th bowl practice in advance of its 15th appearance in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Tuesday morning, Alabama players and coaches met with the press for one hour during the College Football Playoff Media Day. Nick Saban will wrap up this week's press conferences when he meets with the media Wednesday morning at the New Orleans Convention Center Marriott. The Alabama football team will square off against the fourth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Thursday, Jan. 1, in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, with the winner earning the right to play for the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, Jan. 12, in Arlington, Texas.
The Crimson Tide is perfect in three meetings with the Buckeyes. The first showdown came in the 1978 Sugar Bowl where Alabama posted a 35-6 victory. UA then claimed a victory in the 1986 Kickoff Classic in the Meadowlands before its last win over Ohio State, 24-17, in the 1995 Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
