TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The top-seeded Alabama football team continued Ohio State preparations on Saturday afternoon with a two-hour practice in full pads inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
It was the second day of work on Ohio State, the Crimson Tide's opponent in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. It was the fifth of seven bowl practices before Christmas and 13 prior to the Sugar Bowl, which will be televised on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. with Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe calling the action.
The 2015 Sugar Bowl will be the fourth meeting between Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Ohio State boss Urban Meyer, with Saban's teams holding a 2-1 edge. The coaches first squared off in the 2008 SEC Championship Game where Meyer's Gators claimed a 31-20 victory. A year later, Alabama dispatched the Florida 32-13 to win the SEC Championship on its way to an undefeated BCS National Championship. The Tide then knocked off UF in Meyer's final season in Gainesville, with a 31-6 decision inside Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2010.
Alabama will wrap up its pre-Christmas practices on Monday, Dec. 22, before breaking for the holiday and returning to campus for practice on Friday, Dec. 26. The team will depart for New Orleans on Saturday, Dec. 27.
