TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Junior setter Sierra Wilson and redshirt sophomore right side Krystal Rivers have both been named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Representing District 4, this is Wilson's second-straight honor in two years of eligibility for the award, while Rivers earns her first award in her first year of eligibility. This gives the Crimson Tide seven First Team honorees in program history and this season is just the second time Alabama has boasted multiple First Team winners.
Wilson joins Kristye Hall (1990,1992) as the only two-time First Team honorees in program history. The Anaheim, Calif., native owns a 4.0 GPA as an English and Political Science major while also leading the SEC and ranking eighth nationally with 1,096 assists (11.66/set). She has 3,839 career assists, which ranks fourth all-time at Alabama.
Rivers owns a 3.98 GPA as a Biology major and leads the team with 394 kills (4.19/set), which ranks second in the SEC this season. She has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week three times after being named Preseason All-SEC heading into the season. Last year, Rivers set a new school record with a single-season hitting percentage of .404 and was named First Team All-SEC in her debut season with the Tide.
