Baseball Inks 11 to 2015-16 Signing Class

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head baseball coach Mitch Gaspard announced the signing of 11 players during the early signing period for the 2015-16 academic year. Included in this year's class of signees are prep standouts Kyle Cameron (Tuscaloosa, Ala.), Dylan Duarte (Corpus Christi, Texas), Sam Finnerty (Pelham, Ala.), Brock Love (Rainbow City, Ala.), Mike Nikorak (Stroudsburg, Pa.), Chandler Taylor (Montgomery, Ala.), Davis Vainer (Atlanta, Ga.), Cobie Vance (Fayetteville, N.C.), Alex Webb (Columbia, Tenn.) and Gene Wood (Flowood, Miss.), and junior college transfer Matt Foster (Gulf Coast State College (Fla.)).
"We've targeted the right guys that fit our system," said Gaspard. "They're going to help us build team depth moving forward. We'll have some great competition when these guys get here, and we addressed a lot of the needs that our team had. I think it's good that the kids put their trust in the coaching staff and this great university to get their education as well. We're all looking forward to having this group on campus."
The Alabama coaching staff cemented another solid recruiting class with seven of the 10 high school players being ranked in the top 10 of their respective state by Perfect Game USA. Four of the Crimson Tide signees hail from Alabama, including the No. 1, 2 and 3 players in the state. The 2015-16 prep class also includes one player from Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia and Texas.
"We secured the guys that were targeted, including some really talented in-state players," Gaspard added. "We feel like those guys are the three top players in the state of Alabama. It's a deep class and one that we may build on in the spring as the team moves forward, but we feel like it's a really good class overall."
Coaches Dax Norris and Andy Phillips worked tirelessly to secure some of the top position players coming out of high school. In this class of 11 signees, Alabama welcomes six pitchers, two outfielders, two infielders and one catcher.
