Alabama Student-Athletes Slated To Receive Degrees Saturday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - More than 30 University of Alabama student-athletes are slated to receive their degrees Saturday, Dec. 14, when UA holds its winter commencement at Coleman Coliseum.
A total of 19 football players are set to receive their degrees Saturday, including 17 on this year's roster including: Deion Belue, John Fulton, Daniel Geddes, Adrian Hubbard, Brandon Ivory, Wilson Love, Cody Mandell, C.J. Mosley, Kevin Norwood, Anthony Orr, Nick Perry, Ed Stinson, M.K. Taylor, Matt Tinney, DeAndrew White, Jarrick Williams and Kellen Williams. Norwood and Kellen Williamsboth earned their Master's degrees this semester.
Overall, there will be 28 graduates on the Crimson Tide's roster when it plays Oklahoma in the All State Sugar Bowl on Thursday, Jan. 2, in New Orleans.
All-American and 1999 Outland Trophy winner Chris Samuels, a six-time Pro Bowl player for the NFL's Washington Redskins, is also slated to graduate on Saturday. Ben Howell, a member of the 2012 squad, is also set to graduate Saturday.
Anestis Arampatzis will represent the swimming and diving team on Saturday, while Ariel Armijo, Theresa Diederich and Kaitlyn Smith will represent soccer. Jarryd Botha and Mary Anne Daines, will represent the men's and women's tennis teams, respectively.
Women's basketball graduates include Celiscia Famer and Daisha Simmons while women's track and field will see Bekah Hoppis receive her degree while Dushane Farrier will represent the men's track and field squad. Kelsey Melito and Brianne Vande Griend will represent the volleyball team while baseball players Trey Pilkington, Charley Sullivan and Charley Waldrepare also slated to graduate.
Saturday's ceremonies will be broadcast live over the Internet. The webcast will be archived on UA's Web site, www.ua.edu, and will be available for viewing for approximately 30 days following the ceremony.
