• Alabama and Tennessee's contest on Saturday was the first of two match-ups during the month of January. The Crimson Tide and Volunteers will meet again late this month in Knoxville, Tenn. on Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. CT.
• Saturday's game will mark the 140th meeting on the hardwood between the two schools, which ranks as the fifth-most common opponent in UA program history. The Tide now owns a 75-65 edge in the series following the 68-65 win. That also includes a 43-17 record in games played in Tuscaloosa and a 26-8 mark when playing UT in Coleman Coliseum. Alabama has now won three-straight games in the series.
• Alabama trailed, 28-24, and ended up outscoring Tennessee, 44-37, in the second half in the 68-65 win. It was the second time this year that the Crimson Tide has won a game after trailing at halftime (2-4).
• Junior guard Trevor Releford did not have a field goal in the first half, going 0-for-3 from the floor. However, he turned that around in the second half, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.
• Part of the reason that Alabama defeated Tennessee was its free throw shooting down the stretch. The Crimson Tide connected on a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final five minutes.
• Alabama finished the second half shooting 62.5 percent from the floor (15-of-24) en route to the victory. It was the best shooting half in terms of field goal percentage for UA this season.
• Senior guard Andrew Steele matched his season high with 11 points off the bench to go along with a season-best four steals. In fact, in the final five minutes, the senior from Birmingham, Ala. had six points, three steals and an assist to lead Alabama to the win.
• Saturday's contest marked the 2,498th game in program history. Alabama will be playing its 2,500th game on Jan. 19, 2013 when it hosts Texas A&M.
