TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The Alabama softball team received its national championship rings in front of 101,821 fans in a ceremony held at halftime of the Alabama-Florida Atlantic football game in Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday evening. UA Director of Athletics Mal Moore presented each player, coach and support staff member with the program's first national championship rings.
The ceremony comes on the heels of Friday night's championship celebration held in a packed Rhoads Stadium. Friday's celebration, which came in front of the Crimson Tide's home faithful, saw Alabama receive Southeastern Conference championship rings for the third year in a row and fourth overall.
Alabama won its first ever national championship by defeating Oklahoma in the Women's College World Series finals. The Tide won the title game over the Sooners, 5-4. Jackie Traina was named the WCWS most outstanding player.
