
Alabama Soccer Summer Update - First Edition

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Members of the Alabama soccer team and former standouts for the Crimson Tide are all across the world playing for various teams and continuing their education through soccer. This is the first look at what the team is doing this summer.
Theresa Diederich - Led her U19 CCSC Sol team to a Florida State Championship and continued on to punch the team's ticket to the US Youth Soccer National Championships by winning the Southern Regional Championship by beating Brentwood SC, 2-0. Diederich was named the U19 MVP of the championships. The National Championships will be held July 25-29, in Rock Hill, S.C.
Katie Bourgeois - Scored in all but one game en route to a U18 South Texas State Championship with her Albion Hurricanes FC 94 team Bourgeois then notched three goals and three assists at the US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Championships in Greenville, S.C., to help the team to three wins and a tie before squaring off with future teammate Abby Lutzenkirchen (NASA 12 Elite II) in the Semifinals. Albion beat NASA in the semifinals before losing in the finals.
Abby Lutzenkirchen - Led her NASA 12 Elite II team to the U18 Georgia State Finals but had already qualified for Regionals as the Premier League representative. NASA won their group and tallied three wins and a tie before running into Bourgeois' Albion team in the semis.
Laura Lee Smith - Led her BUSA 93 team to the U19 Southern Regional semis before losing, 1-0, to Theresa Diederich's CCSC Sol team. Also doing double-duty, playing with Mississippi Fuego FC of the WPSL.
Kaylee Semelsberger - Led her U18 Cleveland Internationals team to an Ohio North State Championship with a 4-0 victory over Pennine United Soccer Club. Kaylee looks to close out her club career before coming to the Capstone with a Region II Regional Championship starting Saturday, June 23 in Saginaw, Mich.
Molly Atherton / Kendall Khanna - currently doing a six week study abroad/internship program through UA Capstone International Programs in Barcelona. Recently took a tour of Camp Nou home of FC Barcelona.
Ashley Willis / Victoria Frederick - Continuing play with the Seattle Sounders Women. Currently in 2nd place in the Western Division with a 6-1-1 record. The Sounders' next matches are on June 30 and July 1 in Colorado. They take on the Colorado Rapids Women on Saturday and the Colorado Rush on Sunday.
