
Alabama Volleyball Adds Priscilla Duke-Ezeji to 2012 Incoming Class

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama head volleyball coach Ed Allen announced Wednesday that outside hitter Priscilla Duke-Ezeji (Stockton, Calif.) will transfer to the University of Alabama and be eligible for the 2012 season. Duke-Ezeji played at UCLA during the Bruins' National Championship run in 2011, and comes to the Crimson Tide with three years of eligibility remaining.
In her only season at UCLA, the 5-10 Duke-Ezeji saw action 14 matches, including two as a starter, totaling 23 sets played as a freshman in 2011. She recorded 45 kills for the season, to average 1.96 per set, while recording 38 of her kills during Pacific-12 Conference play.
Prior to joining the UCLA team in 2011, Duke-Ezeji was a two-sport athlete at St. Mary's High School in Stockton, Calif., where she lettered three years in volleyball and track. She was a two-time All-Tri-City Athletic League and All-Stockton area first team selection. Following her senior season at St. Mary's HS, she garnered second team All-CIF honors and was a PrepVolleyball honorable mention All-American.
With the addition of Duke-Ezeji, Alabama has added seven new players to the 2012 incoming class. The class also includes four freshmen; outside hitter Kryssi Daniels (Jasper, Ala.), outside hitter Laura Steiner (Fort Collins, Colo.), setter Sierra Wilson (Anaheim, Calif.) and outside hitter Mattie Weldy (Mobile, Ala.), and two junior college transfers; middle blocker Kanesha Burch (Hoover, Ala.) and libero Yukie Fatumi (Tokyo, Japan).
