
Alabama Baseball Garners Three All-SEC Postseason Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - With Tuesday's announcement of the 2012 All-Southeastern Conference baseball teams, Taylor Dugas and Ben Moore combined to collect three all-conference honors. Dugas garnered first team All-SEC and all-defensive team recognition, while Moore was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team as an outfielder.
With his All-SEC selection as a senior, Dugas earns his third straight all-conference team award, while making his second appearance on the All-SEC first team. In 2012, Dugas posted a team-high .343 average, which was 10th in the SEC, while starting all 55 games in center field, and as the team's lead-off hitter. Dugas also led the team with 41 runs scored, 71 hits, 12 doubles, seven triples (second in the SEC), 24 walks, and was hit by a pitch 18 times.
One of the premier leadoff hitters in the country, Dugas reached base safely in 53-of-55 games, which included a streak of 34 games to open the season. Dugas finished the season as the Crimson Tide's all-time leader in career hits (334), singles (235), doubles (67), and triples (18). He led the team with 23 multiple-hit games, which included a team-best five three-hit performances.

En route to his second straight selection to the SEC All-Defensive Team, Dugas made just one error in center field to post a .992 fielding percentage in 131 chances in 2012. Dugas did not make an error during conference play, and finished the season without on error in the final 43 games.
Ben Moore was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team after starting 54-of-55 games and all 30 games during SEC play. Moore had a solid rookie season, as he was second on the squad with a .342 average for the year, which ranked 11th in the SEC. He was second on the team with 10 doubles, had 68 total hits, had two home runs and drove in 31. Moore was the third best hitter during SEC play, posting a .345 during conference action.
Moore hit safely in 45-of-55 games in 2012, including having at least one hit in 24-of-30 SEC contests. Moore had three hitting streaks of at least eight games, which included an 11-game streak and a team best 13-game hitting streak from Mar. 24-Apr. 13 Additionally, he reached base in 49-of-55 games, which included a streak of 26 consecutive games. Moore had 17 multiple hit games and led the Tide with nine multiple RBI games.
