TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets beat the UT Martin Skyhawks 9-1 in the first elimination game at the 2012 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional in Rhoads Stadium. Georgia Tech returns to action immediately, facing the South Alabama Jaguars for the right to advance to Sunday's championship game against No. 2 national seed Alabama.
Georgia Tech took the early lead, scoring in the top of the first inning before UT Martin tied things up in the bottom of the third. The Yellow Jackets added two runs in the top of the fifth and then unleashed a six-run torrent in the seventh inning to seal the victory.
Hope Rush picked up the win for Georgia Tech, pushing her record to 26-12 on the season, while Chelsea Jones took the loss for UT Martin, falling to 28-10.
