Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Gary Koch Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - The second-ranked Alabama men's golf team finished fourth on Sunday at the Gary Koch Invitational with a 5-over-par total of 896 on the par-72, 7,389-yard Old Memorial Golf Course.
The Crimson Tide shot 3-over 291 in Sunday's final round. North Florida ran away with the event, finishing with a 21-under-par 843 to beat Georgia Tech by 20 shots and third place Auburn by 25 shots. Florida State was in fifth place at 8-over 872 with Florida sixth at 10-over 874.
Senior Hunter Hamrick carded his best finish of the season, tying for second place at 6-under par 210. The Montgomery, Ala., native shot 2-under 70 in the final round to finish two shots back of North Florida's Joey Petronio. Hamrick shot 73 and 67 in the first two rounds on Saturday.
Freshman Justin Thomas posted a top-10 finish with a tie for 10th at even-par 216. He finished 2-over-par 74 on Saturday.
Sophomores Cory Whitsett and Bobby Wyatt never found a rhythm in Tampa, both shooting 6-over 222 in a tie for 29th. However, Whitsett shot his lowest round of the tournament with an even-par 72 on Sunday. Wyatt shot 75 in the final round after rounds of 73 and 74 on Saturday. Scott Strohmeyer shot 14-over 230 after a 77 on Sunday.
The Crimson Tide will next tee it up at the 2012 SEC Championships at the Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club on April 20-22.
