BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Yasmine Ebada earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors for women's tennis, which was announced by the league office on Wednesday.
"Yasmine is a sparkplug for our team," said Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz. "She has been an integral piece of our doubles point. She understands and embraces her role, and when she walks out on that court, she knows it's important for her to get herself and everyone else fired up. She does an excellent job of that. Prior to her coming here in the fall, we were missing something, and she fits that missing piece."
Ebada, who joined the Crimson Tide in January from Cairo, Egypt, is currently 9-0 in doubles, including a 7-0 mark in dual matches. She, along with partner Taylor Lindsey, came back from a 6-3 deficit in their match last week against TCU to win 9-7 and clinch the doubles point for Alabama. That win helped that Tide to remain a perfect 10-0 in doubles points on the season.
Catch Ebada, and the rest of the women's tennis team, in action on Friday as Alabama plays host to No. 23 Vanderbilt. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
