TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's tennis team (6-7) steps out of Southeastern Conference play for a dual match against Miami (6-5), which is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The match will take place at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
"After giving the team two days off, we're anxious travel to Miami and prepare for the Hurricanes on Saturday," said Alabama head coach Billy Pate. "By having two days in Coral Gables to prepare, we hope to be sharp this weekend and build on the positive performance from last Sunday."
Last weekend, the Crimson Tide split decisions, falling 5-0 to 25th-ranked LSU before bouncing back for a 6-1 victory versus Arkansas. In Friday's match against the Tigers, Alabama was edged out in the doubles point and dropped four singles matches. The Tide then won the doubles point and captured five of the six singles matches against the Razorbacks, with the clinching win coming on court six thanks to senior Michael Thompson.
Miami enters Saturday's match having lost its last three contests, with the last two coming on the road. Most recently, the Hurricanes dropped a 7-0 decision to Georgia Tech and a 6-1 decision at Clemson. Miami's lone point against the Tigers came at No. 2 singles, thanks to a win from sophomore Omar Aly. The Hurricanes are currently 5-1 at home this season.
