LOUISVILLE, Tenn. - Former Alabama rower Amelia Houghton has been named the new juniors coach for the East Tennessee Rowing Organization (ETRO).
"Amelia's success on the water and in the classroom puts her in an ideal position to be great leader and role model for our junior rowers. We are fortunate to have recruited such a talented athlete and coach," said Roger Hubbard, ETRO founder and Chairman of the Board.
Houghton earned several medals as part of the Tide's rowing program, including a gold medal in the second Varsity 8+ at the SIRA Championships in 2011 and a gold medal in the Varsity 4+ at SIRA in 2010. She also won a bronze medal in the C final of the South/Central Sprints in 2010 and helped the Tide's Varsity B boat to a win against Kansas State, while earning a spot on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
