
Cauley Earns First-Team All-America Accolades

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama golfer Bud Cauley was selected as a PING First-Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America following the conclusion of the NCAA Championships this past weekend.
Cauley, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., finished his Alabama career as the Tide's first three-time All-American and the school's career leader in scoring average at 71.39. He was a three-time first-team All-SEC selection, a three-time Ben Hogan Award semifinalist and a finalist in 2010. He played for the United States in the 2009 Walker Cup and won four-career tournaments with the Tide.
Cory Whitsett, a native of Houston, Texas, was also named to the Phil Mickelson All-Freshman Team after his rookie campaign that included an Alabama freshman-record 71.39 scoring average. He was the SEC Freshman of the Year, earned first-team All-SEC accolades and medalist honors at the Linger Longer Invitational where he fired a 13-under-par 203.
Head coach Jay Seawell was named a finalist for the Dave Williams Award, which honors the Division I National Coach of the Year in collegiate golf. Seawell led the Crimson Tide to five tournament titles and a school record scoring average of 285.63.
Cauley and Whitsett were joined by Hunter Hamrick and Bobby Wyatt on the GCAA All-Southeast Region team. Wyatt finished the season with a 72.33 scoring average followed closely by Hamrick at 72.50.
