BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama women's track and field team placed two student-athletes on the All-Southeastern Conference teams, the league announced Tuesday as part of its 2011 outdoor track and field awards.
Kaylon Eppinger and Meghan Austin both earned second-team honors by virtue of their second-place finishes in the heptathlon and javelin, respectively.
Eppinger finished second in the heptathlon and set personal bests in three of the seven events en route to racking up 5,479 points.
Austin uncorked a throw of 154-4 in the javelin to finish second in back-to-back seasons.
The team will be in action this week at the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Bloomington, Ind., to compete for the opportunity to a spot in the NCAA Championships. Events begin on May 26 and continue through May 28.
