
Alabama Beats Memphis, 7-1

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Memphis Tigers 7-1 in game three of the 2011 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional being held at the Rhoads Softball Complex this weekend. Memphis scored first, posting its lone run of the contest in the bottom of the first inning. Senior All-American pitcher Kelsi Dunne (25-3) then put on the brakes, holding the Tigers scoreless the rest of the way.
Alabama responded to Memphis' opening salvo with a four-run second inning. The Tide added another run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to salt the game away. The Tiger's Carly Hummel took the loss, dropping to 21-7 on the season. Memphis returns to action Saturday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the 3:30 p.m. elimination game between Chattanooga and Jackson State. Alabama faces the winner of today's 6 p.m. contest on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
