TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama rowing team continues its spring season Saturday at the Clemson Regatta on Lake Hartwell, where the Crimson Tide will face off against No. 15 Clemson, as well as Boston University, Syracuse, Indiana, Purdue and Marist.
"This is a very strong field and we'll certainly be tested," UA head coach Larry Davis said. "There will be some great races against some very tough competition. It will be another great opportunity of us to move forward."
Alabama will compete in five races, including the First Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+, the First Varsity 4+, Second Varsity 4+ and the Novice 8+. Racing gets underway at 9 a.m. ET. Each race will feature seven boats racing at once, which is unusual for the regular season.
Alabama opened up its spring season with a strong showing against Notre Dame and Minnesota in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The opening meet featured a 1,500-meter course and a series of three races for each boat, giving the Tide more race experience. Saturday will see the Tide return to the traditional 2,000-meter course, which each boat racing just once.
