Head Coach Mitch Gaspard
Opening statement:
"I thought Southeastern (Louisiana) did a really good job on both ends today. They are really experienced team and have their whole club back after they were a to-25 team most of the season last year. I thought the key to the game early was their ability to run up Morgan's pitch-count. You have to tip your hat to those guys for being good offensively."
On starting pitching today:
"We felt like we could really command the fastball today and work off that, but they (SELU) were really geared up for that, and I think that threw us on our heels a little bit. Offensively we never got into a rhythm, so give credit to their starter who was really good today. I thought today we got beat by an experienced team that is a little better than us in some areas at this time of the year. But again, this is a spot that we need to see things and grow from it and understand what competing is. When somebody takes it to us early like that, we really have to compete in the middle of the game to give us a chance in the end."
On Dugas being a spark for the team:
"He's the spark plug for our club, when he rolls our team has a chance to really get going offensively. He's a big part of what we want to do and today was a good sign. He put three really good swings on pitches today, but I think for us we're still trying to find that lineup for what's going to work. We're going to make a few changes tomorrow and keep tinkering with it. The biggest thing we have to understand is the competition and what it means to compete pitch-by-pitch. Right now we haven't done a good job with that and we have to do a better job everyday and be ready to compete."
