NEW ORLEANS - The University of Alabama men's track and field program moved up two spots in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top 25 poll, now coming in at 17th nationally.
The Crimson Tide did not compete over the weekend, staying home in Tuscaloosa to prepare for the SEC Indoor Championships which are being hosted at the University of Arkansas this weekend.
The Tide, which has already automatically qualified in three events for the NCAA Indoors, will look to bring home individual championships this weekend in Fayetteville and qualify in more events for the NCAA Championships.
Alabama's Kirani James currently owns the fastest time in the world this year in both the 200m (20.85) and the 400m (45.47). Senior Fred Samoei claims the sixth-fastest time in the 800m with a 1:47.41.
The Crimson Tide's Distance Medley Relay team holds the fourth-fastest time in the country this year, after the quartet of Rop, James, Samoei and Julius Bor posted a 9:33.81 two weeks ago in Seattle.
The Tide will compete this weekend at the SEC Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 25-27.
