
Men's Track & Field No. 19 in Coaches' Poll

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Alabama men's track and field team cracked the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top 25 in this week's poll. The Crimson Tide came in at No. 19 after a solid weekend at the Husky Classic in Seattle.
This season, the Crimson Tide has posted six performances that rank in the top 25 nationally.
Alabama runners Kirani James and Fred Samoei have already automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. James has posted the fastest 200m (20.85) and 400m (45.47) in the world thus far in 2011. Samoei owns the sixth fastest 800m time in the nation after posting a 1:47.41 at the Husky Classic Saturday.
The Tide won two events over the weekend in Seattle with the Distance Medley Relay team (Rop, James, Samoei, J. Bor) posting a 9:33.81 and Kamal Fuller bringing home the best mark in the long jump with a 24-11.75. The DMR time is the fourth fastest in the nation while Fuller ranks 20th.
Also, Emmanuel Bor's 7:56.09 mark in the 3,000m last weekend puts him 21st in the country.
Alabama will join five other USTFCCCA Top 25 members in the 2011 SEC Indoor Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville Feb. 25-27.
