Alabama Head Coach Wendell Hudson
On having a lot of players in the game:
"If we are going to play the way we are going to play, we are going to play 10 people on a regular basis. Getting 11 in there is a little harder. We got 11 people in there in the first half. I thought our intensity level picked up during the second half. I don't know if it's first game jitters or whatever you want to call it. The first five minutes in the first half we did not have that intensity level like we've had in practice and the exhibition game. You can see this team has a lot of potential though. We have the chance to have a really good basketball team."
On missed shots:
"We are going to go back and look at the film and look at how we missed the layups. We took good shots. We did not really take a bad shot. We made the extra pass. When you go and think about the game right now and you can't really see any glaring bad shots being taken, then that means you are playing together as a team. I thought we did an outstanding job of playing together as a team."
On Celiscia Farmer and Aneesah Daniels:
"Well we've got Farmer who came on at the end of last year and really has turned out to be a much better player for us. We know she can score. Most of her fouls were not her fault. She was just the last person back and got a hand up and we didn't have the rotation. Daniels is going to be something special, and we really believe that especially when she's in a little better shape."
No. 23 Ericka Russell, Guard
On the beginning of the game's pace:
"We didn't start out with the energy that we practice every day with. It was kind of shocking seeing us not play the way we practice. I think that they set the tone the first half, but in the second half we picked it up."
On joining the 1,000 Point Club:
"It is a good thing, a great mile stone for me, but I am not really worried about that. We have a lot of stuff that we need to work on, and I still have a lot of stuff to work on. It is a great thing to be in that club, but I want more."
No. 5 Celiscia Farmer, Guard
On her performance in the first half:
"The first half I know that our starting five has to set the tone. The effort wasn't there necessarily and neither was our intensity. I knew if I started to pick it up then in turn the team would start to pick it up. We work off of each other, so when one gets going then we start getting really motivated. I think, like Ericka (Russell) said, they set the tone but we came back."
On Coach Hudson in the first half:
"He said a lot. Intensity level had to pick up. We needed to talk and stay focused, but he mainly emphasized intensity. We play with so much intensity, and practice with so much intensity. Nobody really knows where it went, but we are glad that we got it back."
