Women's Tennis Posts 4-0 Sweep Over Oklahoma State

WACO, Texas - The 55th-ranked women's tennis team (1-1) cruised to a 4-0 win over No. 64 Oklahoma State (1-3) on Sunday at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Crimson Tide got the early lead after earning the doubles point and followed that up with a trio of straight-set victories in singles.
"I was confident yesterday that we would come out strong today, and that is exactly what we did," Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz said. "We played real well and competed across the board again. Overall, this was a very good experience for us. I think it is going to give us confidence going into next weekend."
Alabama won its second doubles point of the weekend that was again clinched with a 9-7 victory at No. 1. The Tide's sixth-ranked duo of junior Courtney McLane and sophomore Alexa Guarachi found themselves down early, but came back to edge Oklahoma State senior Nataliya Shatkovskay and freshman Kanyapat Narattana. Prior to that, junior Taylor Lindsey and freshman Alex Clay cruised to an 8-2 win over Cowgirl senior Sarah Meghoufel and sophomore Leyla Simmons on court two.
In singles, Clay was the first to finish, dominating Oklahoma State's Narattana at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. No. 63 Guarachi followed that up with a 6-2, 6-4 win on court two over Cowgirl sophomore C.C. Sardinha. Alabama had second set leads on courts one, three and six, but it would be Lindsey finishing first on court six with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Oklahoma State freshman Allison Burckhartt.
Next up, Alabama will head to New Orleans to take on Texas Tech and Tulane. The Tide will play the Red Raiders on Saturday, Feb. 5 and Noon CT before taking on the Green Wave on Sunday, Feb. 6 at noon CT.
