TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's basketball team (11-10, 0-8 SEC) will wrap up the January portion of its schedule on Sunday when it hosts No. 17 Kentucky (16-4, 5-2 SEC) at 2 p.m. The game will be the team's last in Coleman Coliseum before moving to Foster Auditorium on Feb. 13.
"Tomorrow's game will be bittersweet for us," Alabama head coach Wendell Hudson said. "Women's basketball has played quite a while over here in Coleman now, but it will be exciting to go back to where it all began. The size of Foster Auditorium, along with its acoustics, should make for a terrific home court advantage."
Alabama and Kentucky will be meeting for the 36th time on Sunday. The Wildcats lead the series 20-15 and have won the previous five contests against the Crimson Tide. Alabama's last victory against Kentucky came on Jan. 9, 2005, by a score of 69-39 in Tuscaloosa.
Last time out, the Tide lost its fourth straight Southeastern Conference game by 11 points or less when it fell 70-64 at Florida on Thursday. Freshman Kaneisha Horn led all scorers with a career-high 21 points. She was followed by senior Tierney Jenkins with 14 points. Jenkins also collected a game-best 16 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season.
The Wildcats are in the midst of a five game winning streak with their latest victory coming at Mississippi on Thursday, 76-68. Kentucky trailed at the half, but scored 46 points in the second half, connecting on 20 attempts from the floor for the win. Senior Victoria Dunlap led the Wildcats with 18 points, while freshman Jennifer O'Neill added 10.
Single game tickets for the game are on sale at the cost of $5 for adults and $3 for youth 18 and under.
