TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama women's soccer team continued its strong presence and dedication to community service by volunteering at the Community Soup Bowl. The team spent two days this past weekend in the kitchen as 10 members of the squad joined by coaches and staff helped prepare food for the local community.
"It was incredible to see the work that volunteers put in every week to lend a hand in our community," freshman defender Courtney Pixler said. "It was especially gratifying to be able to interact with those we served."
The team linked up with the Community Soup Bowl and set out to provide nutritious meals in a warm, safe and caring environment, free of charge, no questions asked, to anyone who seeks nourishment.

"The more that I do community service, the more that I believe that it is very self motivating," newcomer Janea Simpson said. "It is both a humbling and a growing experience."
The Community Soup Bowl is open every day of the week and serves lunch from 11-12:50 p.m. to people of all ages. The kitchen serves about 300 people a day, located at 1711 23rd ave.
The soccer team has already participated in Project Angel tree and will be volunteering for Habitat for Humanity on Feb. 5. The Crimson Tide has also visited local schools and participated in Read Across America.
