TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team bounced back in a big way by earning a 3-0 decision over visiting Middle Tennessee State Sunday afternoon at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The win marks the 99th in the career of head coach Todd Bramble as the Tide improve to 4-2 on the season. The Blue Raiders now move to 3-4 on the year.

"This was a big improvement from last Sunday," Bramble said. "As we get closer to SEC play you want to see improvement and I thought we came out and took care of business today. We were opportunistic in front of goal and were good enough to finish."

The Tide opened the scoring early and often in the first half by surging to a quick 2-0 lead before 10 minutes had passed.

Senior Victoria Frederick gave Alabama the 1-0 advantage when she tapped in a deflection on the goal line at the nine minute mark. Senior Rosaly Petriello nearly chipped the MTSU keeper and had the ball carom off the crossbar right to the feet of Frederick.

Exactly a minute later senior Brooke Rogers found net far post. Rogers split the defenders and was rewarded for her run by a pass from Ashley Willis. The senior then beat the keeper far post to hand Alabama the 2-0 lead.

The Tide added all the insurance it would need as Rogers netted her second goal of the contest. The senior stole the ball deep in the Blue Raiders defensive third and beat MTSU keeper Rebecca Cushing near post to give the Tide the 3-0 win.

Alabama out-shot MTSU 20-12 with Rogers leading the way with five tallies. Freshman goalkeeper Shanna Brooks earned her first collegiate shutout on the strength of four saves.

Alabama will remain at home for a single match next week. The Crimson Tide will welcome the Red Raiders of Texas Tech for a Friday night match on Sept. 17. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.
