SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the Campbell/ITA Division I Preseason Rankings on Friday where three singles players and one doubles pair from the women's tennis team earned a national ranking.
Sophomore Alexa Guarachi, coming off her stellar freshman campaign that ended in the NCAA Singles Championships, will begin the season ranked No. 38 nationally. Junior Courtney McLane, a consistent part of the top of the Crimson Tide's singles lineup, checks in at No. 89. Finally, freshman Alex Clay, behind the strength of her run to the finals of the ITA National Collegiate Summer Circuit Singles Championships, starts her career with a ranking of No. 118.
Guarachi and McLane, Alabama's top doubles duo that advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Doubles Championships last season and finished with a ranking of No. 15, took a huge leap in the rankings to begin the season at No. 2. Their No. 2 ranking is the highest of any doubles pair in program history.
