TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Under the direction of third year head coach Todd Bramble, the Alabama soccer team took to the pitch twice on Thursday to officially open its double-day portion of fall training camp. The Crimson Tide trained early in the morning and then returned to the field in the evening for its second training session of the day.
After coming together as a team for the first time last night, Alabama got right into the swing of things by playing an 11-versus-11 scrimmage.
In the morning on Thursday the Tide had more of a technical session working on some fundamentals, aiming on regaining pace and touch. The goalkeepers also tackled the fundamentals by working on their footwork and timing along with easing the hands back into play.
During the evening Alabama implemented more of a strategic training session, especially on the attacking third. The Tide then broke into small-sided games while the keepers worked on defending crosses.
Alabama will play its first of two exhibition matches this fall when the Crimson Tide heads to Chattanooga to face Tennessee Tech. The two teams will meet on the campus of the Girls Preparatory School, the high school alma mater of Josie Rix, on Monday, Aug. 9.
