TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team will take advantage of a rare opportunity Monday as it will host the Ghana U-17 women's national team in an exhibition match at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The two teams will kick off on Aug. 30, at 7 p.m.
Ghana is currently training at the Jack Allen Recreation Center in Decatur, Ala., preparing for the U-17 World Cup which will be held in Trinidad-Tobago in September.
Know as the Black Maidens, Ghana traveled the 6,500 miles and began its training camp on Aug. 7 and will finish up in Decatur on Sept. 1. Ghana has already played an exhibition match against Mississippi State and will now be put to the test against the Crimson Tide on Monday.
Ghana picked Decatur as its host site for training camp to try and simulate the humid conditions they may encounter on the Caribbean island in September.
Alabama is coming off a 3-0 loss to Furman on Saturday and will not have another match until Sunday, Sept. 5, when it will host Chattanooga at 1 p.m.
