TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team went through its 24th practice of the fall on Saturday in full pads for two hours inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility.
It was the Crimson Tide's final practice before game-week preparations begin on Monday. One of the challenges for Alabama in 2010 is replacing the likes of Kareem Jackson, Javier Arenas, Marquis Johnson and Justin Woodall in the secondary.
"I feel really comfortable with the players we have," head coach Nick Saban said of his young secondary. "The most difficult thing through this camp was when you have a lot of guys that haven't played you really like to get some continuity in practice with guys playing together.
"We've continually had two or three guys out and haven't been able to do that. But saying all that, I am really pleased with the progress that we've made and the improvement that we've made with the group."
That young secondary will get its first opportunity to show what it can do a week from today (Sept. 4) when Alabama opens the 2010 campaign with San Jose State at 6 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide will take Sunday off before returning to the practice field on Monday afternoon.
