TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -The Alabama football team practiced for two hours in full pads Thursday afternoon at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields. The practice was the 22nd and final of fall camp.
"I think we've had a productive week," head coach Nick Saban said. "I think for us the week kind of gets broken up a bit, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday we're still sort of camp-like with an emphasis on things that the people in the first four games we play do differently than what we've seen from our offense.
"Tomorrow we'll start some preparation for San Jose State. I think this is kind of judgement day for us. We have to make some decisions now as to who we are going to coach and what we are going to do."
Junior center William Vlachos picked up yet another preseason honor Thursday, when he was announced to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the most outstanding center in the nation. Since its inception 11 years ago, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2 million for its benefactor, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The Crimson Tide will wrap up the week with practices on Friday and Saturday. The Tide will begin their full preparations for the season opener against San Jose State on Friday and will get into their regular game week routine after a scheduled off day on Sunday.
Alabama kicks off its 116th season of college football on Saturday, Sept. 4 against the Spartans. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start and will be televised on a pay-per-view basis by the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
