
Volleyball Holds Annual Crimson White Scrimmage on Sunday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The volleyball team will play in its first match-like situation of 2010 on Sunday, Aug. 15 when it holds its annual Crimson White intrasquad scrimmage in the CAVE. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. CT and admission is free.
The scrimmage will feature the Crimson and White teams doing battle for four sets. The first two sets will be played to 25 points, with the last two sets being played to 15 points.
The Crimson Tide is looking to rebound from a tough season a year ago. Alabama finished 2009 with a record of 8-22 overall and 6-14 in Southeastern Conference action. The Tide has a solid group of experienced players returning this season, led by four seniors, as well as the addition of five freshmen to the roster.
The first regular season matches for Alabama are just two weeks away, as the Tide will travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to compete in the Hawkeye Challenge Friday, Aug. 27 through Sunday, Aug. 29. Alabama opens the tournament with the Hawkeyes on Friday at 7 p.m. CT. The Tide begins its 2010 home slate the next weekend when it hosts the Bama Bash. The Tide plays Toledo on Friday, Sept. 3 at noon CT in its first match of the tournament.
