Morgan Named ESPN.com All-American

BRISTOL, Conn. - Alabama's Charlotte Morgan was named the first baseman on the 2010 ESPN.com All-America softball team, it was announced Tuesday. Morgan was one of only two Southeastern Conference players named to the team, along with Georgia outfielder Taylor Schlopy.
The Crimson Tide's senior leader this season, Morgan batted a .361 clip while leading the team in doubles (11), home runs (17), slugging percentage (.774) and runs batted in (74). The first baseman from Moreno Valley, Calif., ranked second on the team in hits (56), total bases (120), walks (57) and on base percentage (.533).
Morgan departs the Capstone as one of the most decorated players in the history of the softball program. A three-time NFCA All-American, Morgan received the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS award, given to the nation's most accomplished player on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
Morgan, the first overall pick in this year's National Pro Fastpitch draft, has already kicked off her professional career joining former Tide great Kelly Kretschman as a starter for the USSSA Florida Pride. The NPF schedule spans from June through August and the Pride will make road appearances in Ohio, Tennessee and Texas while playing their home games in Orlando, Fla., many at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort.
