
Soccer in Full Swing During Summer Play

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Numerous members of the Alabama soccer team continued their summer play for their respective clubs. Here is the third edition of the summer update for the Tide players that are suiting up for squads all across North America.
Justine Bernier (Toronto Lady Lynx)
The All-SEC and Canadian international goalkeeper led the Lynx to its first win of the season as the net-minder posted a shutout in goal. The clean sheet came against the Rochester Ravens this past Sunday. Toronto is now 1-0-2 on the season and will play Hamilton on Wednesday.
K.K. Duffy (Atlanta Silverbacks)
Alabama transfer K.K. Duffy helped the Atlanta Silverbacks record its fourth shutout of the season by playing 24 minutes in a 5-0 rout over the Tampa Bay Hellenic this past Saturday. Atlanta sports a 4-0-1 record thus far this summer while Duffy has found time in two games.
Victoria Frederick (Seattle Sounders Women)
The fleet-footed midfielder did not play this past weekend for Seattle. The Alabama senior has played in two matches and is tied for second on the team in points with two on one goal. Seattle will play the Pali Blues on Thursday.
Jewelia Strickland (AFC Lightning)/ Emily Cox (GSA)
Alabama incoming freshmen Jewelia Strickland and Emily Cox squared off for the right to head to regionals. Strickland's AFC Lightning won 1-0 in the U18 Georgia State Cup Championship match. Both teams punched their ticket though to Region III Regionals. Strickland and the AFC Lightning will advance as state champions while Emily Cox and GSA will advance as the wild card winner.
Ashley Willis (Pride Predators U-20)
Alabama sophomore Ashley Willis continued her stellar play this summer by recording the lone goal for her Pride Predators in a losing effort. Willis played the full 90 minutes, sharing time atop the formation at forward and outside on the midfield. Willis will once again face off against Alabama incoming freshman Kendall Khanna and her Colorado Rush this Thursday.
