
Morgan Named SEC Softball Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama senior Charlotte Morgan (Moreno Valley, Calif.) was named the Southeastern Conference Softball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday. The honor is the first of the season for the two-time All-American.
Morgan has consistently started to heat up as conference action begins. On the week, including a midweek contest against FIU, Morgan batted .600 (9-for-15), scored eight runs, drilled four home runs, added three doubles while driving in 11.
The All-American slugged 1.600 as seven of her nine hits went for extra bases. Morgan opened the week at Kentucky in the opening game of the doubleheader with a 3-for-4 effort, hitting two home runs, a double and driving in five. In the nightcap, she went deep once again, hitting her fourth home run in three games. Against South Carolina, Morgan hit a three run home run, a double and collected three hits and two RBI.
In just the SEC games over the week Morgan hit .615 (8-for-13) with eight runs, four home runs and 11 RBI. She added four walks, two doubles and sported a .706 on-base-percentage.
Alabama will host in-state foe UAB on Wednesday, March 24 with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The Tide will then welcome SEC softball rival Florida for a three game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 27.
