BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama softball freshman infielder Kayla Braud (Eugene, Ore.) was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The honor is the second of the season for the newcomer.

In three of the four games during the week she collected two or more hits, including a 3-for-3 effort in the Saturday win against Georgia and a 2-for-4 game in the rubber game. On the season, Braud leads Alabama with a .463 batting average, 31 hits, 23 runs and 12 stolen bases. Her .463 average and 12 stolen bases rank fifth in the conference.
Alabama will begin this week with a doubleheader against SEC foe Kentucky in Lexington on Tuesday. The Tide will return home to host Florida International on Thursday, March 18 in a single contest. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Alabama will then host its first home SEC series of the season when it welcomes South Carolina to the Alabama Softball Complex.
